Christmas Crafting
Our Christmas Crafting was a special highlight of our Joy of Living Activities Programme in 2025. Our residents came together to create beautiful handmade crafts, showcasing their creativity, skill, and dedication.
This project provided residents with a goal-oriented, fun, and meaningful activity, where they could work together, learn new skills, and share their talents with the wider community. All of this was made possible through the hard work and dedication of our volunteer team to whom we are very grateful.
Crafting with Purpose
From September to December, residents participate in art, knitting, and craft sessions, producing a wide variety of handmade items including:
- Seasonal decorations
- Knitted garments and accessories
- Cards and artwork
- Gifts for family, friends, and the community
These sessions encourage cooperation, creativity, and a sense of achievement, while also providing opportunities for residents to socialise, form friendships, and share ideas.

Showcasing and Sharing
At the craft fair, residents’ creations are proudly displayed and sold at Rathkeevan. This gives our residents the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a shared project, while engaging with the local community.
The fair also extended beyond our home, when the residents took part in a local community craft fair, where they could share their work, and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments.
Giving Back
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Christmas Craft Fair is the fundraising element. Proceeds from the sale of crafts were donated to Clonmel & District Wheelchair Society, allowing our residents to give back and see the impact of their efforts.
This aspect of the project adds an extra layer of purpose, helping residents feel that their time, creativity, and contribution make a difference in the wider community.
Joy, Connection, and Celebration
Beyond crafting, the Christmas Craft Fair is a celebration of community, friendship, and festive cheer. Residents enjoy the excitement of preparing their stall, seeing their creations appreciated, and sharing the holiday spirit with visitors, family, and friends.
The Christmas Craft Fair exemplifies The Joy of Living Programme ethos, creating opportunities for residents to connect, contribute, and experience joy together.
