Movement and Physical Activity
Physical activity plays an important role in maintaining health, independence and wellbeing.
Residents are encouraged to participate in activities suited to their ability, including:
- Seated exercise classes
- Indoor strolls
- Qi Gong practice
- Breathing exercises
- Walks in the garden
Even gentle movement can significantly improve mood, energy and overall wellbeing.
Qi Gong
Qi Gong is an ancient practice that combines gentle movement, breathing and mindfulness.
As we age we become vulnerable to certain stressors due to changes in life. This could be in the form of the death of a loved one, challenging relationships, loneliness, unstructured time or chronic disease.
Qi Gong is particularly suitable for residents because movements can be performed while seated, making it accessible for those with physical challenges.
Benefits may include:
- Reduced stress
- Improved sleep
- Enhanced immune function
- Greater relaxation and balance
Our aim is always to set realistic and encouraging goals, helping residents stay as active and comfortable as possible.
